Don Glanzer
Writer, Assistant, Friend
Don Glanzer and Larry Smith
Above is an undated photo of Don, on the left, and Larry, entertaining a group of children. Don passed away suddenly Monday, October 21, 2002, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Over the years, Don was one of many people instrumental in helping Larry bring many of his wonderful characters to life. Don was Larry's writer and assistant puppeteer for over 40 years. Don wrote original scripts for Larry's productions, including these:

"The Mouse Who Wished For The Moon"
"The Magic Forest" - All 200 episodes appearing on PBS in 1966-67
"Once Upon A Broomstick" - 1970
"Granny Snowflake's Christmas Surprise" - 1973
"The Magic Forest" - (2) 1974 SPCA Productions
"Hattie's Thanksgiving Reunion" - 1987
"The Magic Forest" - (65) episodes on Storer Cable 1991-92, co-written
                                   with Skip Fenker.
"The Great Kids Show" - WGRR Radio Series, was Don's last major
                                         writing  project for Larry.

While helping Larry, Don was also a teacher at Condon School in Cincinnati.

As I have been putting together this web site, Don's name would come up frequently in stories about all the things Larry has done over the years. Larry and I would talk at each meeting about planning to get together with Don so I could meet him also. I'm saddened that I did not get the opportunity to do that.

I recently received a copy of a photo of Don, and I will be trying to present more information about Don and his contributions to The Larry Smith Puppets over the years. I added that photo to this page, below.
